Symbolically Adopt a Border Leicester Sheep
The Border Leicester sheep originated in England in the mid-18th century. Imported to Canada in the 1800s, it soon came to dominate the sheep farming industry. A hardy breed, the Border Leicester adapted well to this country’s cold climate.
This breed was reared both for wool and meat. Its high-quality fleece was at one time a staple of the carpet industry and remains popular today with artisanal hand spinners.
See Border Leicester sheep and other rare and heritage breed animals at The Village at Black Creek.
